Gathering my orange accessories together to go out door knocking in support of @meg.webb.mlc - Independent for Nelson in the coming months as she seeks re-election in the Tasmanian Legislative Council seat of Nelson which includes many of the suburbs to the south of Hobart, including parts of South Hobart, Sandy Bay, Taroona and Kingston. I have known Meg personally for more that 30 years and know her to be a person of great integrity, fight, intelligence, determination and kindness, and I have been so proud watching her bring all those qualities to the job as being a most excellent hardworking member of the government. If you are in her electorate of Nelson than you can support Meg by putting her No. 1 on your ballot on 3rd May 2025, or if you want to get more involved you could make a donation to her campaign, distribute fliers, pop a sign in your yard if you are in a prominent position, join me in the door knocking team, or just tell some of your family and friends how great she is!

So, last night Coco and I attended the @filmquest Awards Ceremony where we knew A Green Affair was nominated for two awards - Best Short Fantasy + Beyond, as well as The Minerva Award (for a female created film). There were over 200 short films that played at Film Quest and having watched so many of them I know that the production standard was incredibly high so for Craige to receive this award is a MAJOR recognition of his talent, hard work, deep and creative thinking that he put into making A Green Affair work. So grateful to you Craige and just so chuffed that I am bringing this lovely Film Quest Plaque home for you to put on your shelf!

Last night I had the huge privilege of sharing A Green Affair with a packed and enthusiastic house at @filmquest as part of a block of films called ‘Mommy You Don’t Look So Good!’ All the films were freaking amazing and many of them were written and/or directed by women, I had lovely feedback about our film, Coco told me she was proud of me (🥰) and I am very tired today but feeling warm and fuzzy. Coco and I have landed in mountain ringed Provo, Utah and checked into @filmquest which sits behind a red velvet curtain at @velourlive and is like entering an underground world, filled with strange creatures, odd and beautiful spaces to discover, very friendly organisers, and of course a cinema showing indie genre film gems from around the world. Looking forward to watching as many films as I can, meeting lots of other filmmakers and maybe climbing a mountain over the next week. On Thursday night Paul and I got to watch the US Premiere of A Green Affair on the HUGE gorgeous screen at @gatewayfilmcenter on opening night of @nightmaresfilmfest in Columbus, Ohio - what a blast! Had lovely feedback from the audience, and was super impressed with the quality of the other shorts. In fact all the shorts I’ve seen here so far have been really terrific + excellent quality (highly imaginative, strange, beautiful, disturbing, hilarious) so felt pretty chuffed to have our film amongst them. My trip to @filmquest festival in Provo, Utah just got even more exciting as found out that our film A Green Affair is nominated for Best Fantasy Short Film as well as for The Minerva Award (awarded to a female filmmaker/duo/group whose work embodies the advancement of the voice and empowerment of the female filmmaker in genre cinema today).

So blooming great to be having the Northern Ireland Premiere for our short horror film A GREEN AFFAIR at @darkhedgesfilmfestival which takes place in Belfast from 26th -31st of October!

Not only that but we are a FINALIST for Best International Short, and all the finalists screen on 28th October 7pm. Wooooo!
